Anastrozole

Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibotor used to block estrogen production in Men. As your testosterone levels increase, sometimes your estrogen levels can increase as well. Some patients will need to block their estrogen production as it can cause unwanted side effects: mood swings, weight gain, gynecamastia (man boobs), and more, but most will not need to block their estrogen production, here's why:

Recent medical studies suggest that moderate levels of estrogen in men have positive health benefits and that some men on testosterone replacement do not need to be on an aromatase inhibitor such as Anastrozole. In many patients, estrogen can be lowered naturally without the use of medications like Anastrozole. Testosterone replacement has a long list of positive health benefits but when combined with Anastrozole (or other aromatase inhibitors) some of the protective effects of testosterone are lost. Our providers will check your estrogen levels regularly and take appropriate medical steps to keep you as healthy as possible.
